Stash Count Sunday

Stash Count

Here's the stash count:
Used: 1.25 yds
Added: 0, zilch, nada
I'm finishing up 3 quilts, have all the backing and binding. So I'll bask in the glory of having a positive balance for what might be the only time this year!
Judy Laquidara, of Patchwork Times, has a cool and fun blog. She is always having activities for all to participate in. One is a "Weekly" Stash Count. "Weekly" is a period of time you can define by multiplying it by whole numbers. I think I'll define weekly as 4 x weekly= once a month. Who knows? If I get it together, I might manage it more often!

Judy also hosts the Getting It Done Challenge. Each month you list what you want to get done for that month. I will share my progress here during the month, the good, the bad and the ugly. My January list will go up tomorrow

The Fine Print
I committed myself last year to working on my "kits" only. My kits are stored in their own plastic shoebox with a label. In the box is a pattern for the quilt I have seen and desire to make and the fabric to make it. I don't think I'm alone in this, hmmm? The only reason to buy fabric would be to get something that wasn't in the kit.

Well, I did purty good job, if I do say so myself. The little itty bitty problem I had was I changed the type of quilting I do...I have become a great fan of Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville.com. She is my quilting muse! I also became enamored with string quilts, ahhhh, *big sigh*.

Because of this, some things have happened...
Changes Are Coming!

I am definitely a spotty blogger. Mostly what I post is for my family. I plan on getting back to my original plan for this blog:

Quilting

I'm currently working on finishing three quilts:

Spiderweb Quilt

Marie's Square-in-Square

Bricks and Stones

 Movies

I've watched two movies this week...a treat I can only do while I'm on vacation.
Dark Shadows & Dark Knight Rises

Books

Just finished reading: Memoirs of a Geisha
Currently readingMr. Pettigrew Takes a Stand, New Testament, Book of Mormon

Parenting

Here are my babies!
Nancy Drew at 2 years old (now 33)

Noel Heart at 2 yrs old (now 35)

Talented Geek Son at 2 yrs old (now 31)

  Now What?

My dilemma then was what to do about posts for my family? The answer is to create another blog for our family. I'm very excited about this venture!

What will the family blog be? Stories about our family. I have some pretty amusing stories about my children. I will have to keep my children anonymous (see how long that idea lasted?) since they would be embarrassed if their circle of friends knew the family skeletons! Now I'll have a place to post videos I like instead of emailing them. I send them lots of emails with things I find interesting. I'm sure they're not always thrilled, and maybe get tired and don't even look. I know how much they look forward to each of my emails to find what new amusing, interesting and weird things I've found.

Family blog= stories, amazing videos, jokes, recipes, eclectic items and  inclusion of the weekly family letter.

Oops! Don't tell anyone! They don't even know my New Year's Resolution to write an old-fashioned letter to all of them. Shhh!

New Year's Eve and a Christmas Song!

I confess that I usually celebrate the holiday that is happening or coming up. Here's an exception--aren't there always exceptions? I was cruising around my favorite blogs and found a entry from Pink Pincushion made on Christmas Eve. In it she posted a link to a Christmas song, My Favourite Time of the Year. I love Christmas songs and this one just went right to my heart. I felt it was too good to share a year from now...so here it is!
